Warsawianka : Folk Songs and Dances from Poland


On Saturday ,the 23rd October 2010,  at The India International Centre New Delhi,  as a part of 'A Festival of the Arts, ,  WARSAWIANKA ,an ensemble from the University of Warsaw  , repertoire of folk songs and dances from Poland was presented.    In the programme hand out,  the details about the folk songs and dances were given.  
According to the details in the programme guide, 'the dances included the polka, the mazurka and the oberek, representing different regions of Poland.'
 It is further stated that ' the Warsawianka, the Song and Dance Ensemble of Warsaw University, is a representive group from Poland's largest university.   The ensemble's maxim is : ' education by folklore' .'
It is explained that :
'Their repertoire includes national dances, depictions from different regions of the country based on Polish customs and rituals, and performances related to Christmas and easter'

The performance was extremely excellant .  We enjoyed the programme.  Well done ,congradulations to  young students of the Warsaw university.
