The coconut palm trees are abuntantly cultivated in south Asian Countries.
Coconut fruits hang at the base of the leaves in clusters of about 10 to 15.
Coconut palm tree carries leaves of about 10 to 20 ft long at about 70 to 100 ft above ground level. There are variety of coconut palm trees of just the height around 8 ft to 10 ft too in some places.
Coconut palm trees are strong . In about 6 years, the tree will start giving coconuts and it will give maximum coconuts in about 20 years.
Not much maintainance is needed unlike other trees such as Mango.
A young or tender coconut contains a large amount of juice. The coconut water in the tender coconut would be of different taste depending up on its tribe !! Its taste varies from sweetness, salty or tasteless some time , depending up on local conditions. But it is very very healthy .
The coconut meat is very very good and ideal for eating. We found selling points of tender coconuts at every 100 ft or so in Bangalore city, selling at Rs.12 per tender coconut.
